About Us

The Queen's Film Society fosters the art of cinema and creates a vibrant film culture in a communal setting.  We bring new and classic films of artistic and social significance to the community, presenting them as quality cinematic experiences.

The Queen's Film Society does this not only by presenting movies to the community that would otherwise not be shown on a big screen in the Brazos Valley, but also by publishing members’ film analysis and criticism, and engaging with, promoting, and screening the work of local filmmakers.

We are a non-profit organization contributing to the humanistic and increasingly diverse climate of the Brazos Valley.

Cult Classics and Cold Ones presents: These Are The Damned (1965)

There’s something deeply unsettling waiting just beneath the surface of Hammer Films’ The Damned—and once it pulls you in, it doesn’t let go. What starts as a rebellious seaside encounter spirals into a chilling blend of sci-fi, paranoia, and cold-war dread, directed with eerie precision by Joseph Losey. This is Hammer at its most unexpected: less gothic horror, more creeping, existential unease that lingers long after the screen goes dark.

    Texas Premiere!

Adnan, a young gay art student, arrives in New York City to flat-sit for the summer. He begins interning at a gallery where an unconventional older artists he once encountered is being exhibited. As moments from his past and present begin to intertwine, a series of encounters -  both artistic and erotic - open cracks in his everyday reality.

For Pride Month, our screening of Drunken Noodles offers reflection, community, and that rare sense of “oh, they actually got this right.” If you’ve been waiting for a queer film that feels immediate, human, and just a little bit chaotic in the way real life is, don’t miss this one.

    Viewer discretion advised.

    REVIEWS

“Well-observed and effortlessly sexy… Everything feels aptly and pleasingly on the fly in this portrait of will-o’-the-wisp living.”

    VARIETY

“Rarely has sexual frustration been explored with such poetry and imagination.”

    LE MONDE

"Lucio Castro's superb film mixes erotic adventures and romantic misadventure.”

    LIBÉRATION

Castro’s films are becalmed—New York feels lazy and empty, all dappled summer light and birdsong, and he favors understated, deliberate performances.”

    THE ART NEWSPAPER

“The film, infused with constant sexual tension, [has] a certain fluidity, playfulness, mystery, and openness to reverie—and at the same time, it has the simple charm and sensuality of a bowl of noodles.”

Kindred spirits from different worlds become entangled together one volatile summer in this passionate, psychological thriller. Local girl Mona (Natalie Press) is naive, reckless and filled with yearning for something more in life. Tamsin (Emily Blunt, in her screen debut) is spoiled and bored and trying to escape the confines of her prep-school existence when she draws Mona into her fantasy world. But what started as a magical friendship soon becomes laced with deception and danger.

Acclaimed director Paweł Pawlikowski (Ida, Cold War) achieved international fame with feature, one that showed his ability to dazzle with the camera, sound design, and the ability to inspire expert performances from his cast. For Pride Month, a fiercely unapologetic thrill ride about the joys and the dangers of unbridled passion. For June, a steamy, white-hot drama about the leisurely days and short, but romance-filled nights.

    REVIEWS

This is a rare, cogent, powerful, intelligent little film from a major cinematic talent.

    THE LIST

In this sly and wonderfully atmospheric gem, Press and Blunt conjure up the role-playing raptures of youth with perfect poetic pitch.
